  Wheels
Jessica's car (a '95 Saturn) has been giving us trouble for a while with a variety of problems. We actually started a game - "Who Can Guess What Will Go Wrong With The Saturn Next?" The car was more creative than us, though, and it seems to have beat us at last. After leaving Jessica and Daniel stranded by the highway a few weeks ago with a broken belt, it promptly broke the belt again this weekend - only this time it melted it so there's a big gooey mess all over half the engine. Fun. Anyhow, if you'd like a Saturn let me know...

Thankfully, that's not the whole story! Jessie's parents decided this was a good time to get the new(er) car they had been wanting - so the end of the story is that Jessie is driving a better car and we're able to pay in a way that works well for everyone. Still, if you'd like a Saturn, we'd love to talk to you!

  Ordination Weekend
Seth was ordained this weekend and we have had the joy of having his mom and dad in town, too! They didn't just come for the ordination, of course - they came to meet Daniel! We had a great time spending time with them and Seth's aunt, uncle and cousins (who live in town) and Jessica's roomate from college, Melissa, who was also in town!
Seth preached Sunday morning for Children's Sunday at our church (is it because he's childish? we don't know), and the ordination service was on Sunday evening. It was great.

  Opening Doors
We've been praying for several of our neighbors for a long time, and it seems like some things are starting to happen! Most folks on the street know us because they see Jessica walking (and Daniel, and sometimes Seth). But now we seem to be moving beyond acquaintance level and actually making some friends - a couple of families have given us baby gifts and now another family wants to have us over for dinner! I think Daniel has a lot to do with their new interest in us, but I'm sure the brownies Jessica has been passing out didn't hurt anything, either! We're praying that God will continue to open these doors, because there are a lot of folks in our neighborhood who don't know Him!

  Ordination Council
I (Seth) had my ordination council last night. That's where other pastors/deacons get together and grill you on your theology, etc, to make sure that you won't be teaching people heresy or living a lie while you're leading churches. I've been afraid of it for years, but it actually wasn't bad. Sure, there were some tough questions. But the focus was not on the tiny details of hotly debated theological issues - it was on the major issues - and how I live them out. I passed. I guess that means I'm orthodox. Anyway, it means that next Sunday night I'm going to get a new Bible, a piece of paper that says I'm officially "ordained" and people will pray for me. I think that's cool.

  6 weeks!
It's hard to believe that it's already been six weeks since Daniel was born! He has grown so much! Sure, he's still a small 8lbs and 20 inches (less than the 10th percentile!), but we can certainly tell the difference! Plus he is a lot more interactive: he smiles, makes good eye contact and follows you with his eyes, likes to be held and actually slept for 6 hours straight last night! hooray!

  Myrtle Beach

We had a wonderful time at the beach with Daniel and Jessie's folks! They get a condo on the 15th floor overlooking the ocean - a perfect place to relax and be refreshed! (especially when you have so much help with the baby!) Daniel did great on the trip and even didn't mind getting in the ocean! We played games, went out, chilled on the beach... it was wonderful, much-appreciated break!

  Beach
We're leaving today for a week at the beach with Jessica's folks - I don't know if we'll have internet while we're there, but when we get back we'll definitely have some pictures for you!!

  The Transition Begins
Wednesday night Jordan Jones (our soon-to-be-new-youth-pastor) taught youth group for the first time! He was great (no surprize) and it's exciting to think about what God will do through him in the lives of the students here at Daleville Baptist Church! This is Seth's last month on staff at the church, and Jordan is going to be here all month - please pray for a smooth transition of leadership this month and for wisdom for us as we seek to do everything we can to support Jordan without stepping on his toes!
